Why World Cup Games Should be Held in One Area
I believe the World Cup should be held in one area to make it easier for the soccer fans, who would not have to travel around the world if this were the case. People who want to watch the games have to buy plane tickets to other sides of the continent to watch a match and have to buy the increasingly expensive tickets to the game. Here are some reasons why the World Cup should be held in one place.
Of course, watching games in person has way more hype than watching them from the television. The TV sometimes lags, making it hard to make out what is happening. Watching in person has better quality, and you can always zoom in with your binoculars (if you brought any, of course!).
However, when the games are spread out, to go to a few games, you have to buy expensive plane tickets to get to the next game, since everyone is also trying to get there. On top of that, many other people want to watch in person, so the tickets to attend the game are also very expensive. These costs can cause many people not to be able to attend the games.
From the start of the World Cup in 1930, only one country at a time has hosted the games. This only doesn’t apply for the one occasion in 2002, where Japan and South Korea co-hosted the men’s World Cup. This year, three countries are hosting the World Cup, which means to watch some of the games, you have to take a plane to another country and do border customs and all that boring stuff that takes hours.
I think that part of why the FIFA World Cup is making three countries host is because this year, sixteen more countries are playing. Although this is true, I don’t really think three countries need to host, since sixteen more teams for two more countries feels like a bit overkill. Maybe one country could still host if the teams’ living quarters were more spread out instead of in one city. The tournament could be hosted in multiple cities, but all in the same area, instead of on opposite sides of the continent.
Overall, having the who persist on going to as many games as possible. If this were the case, instead of spending it all on plane tickets.
