Once upon a time, in the foreign land of Bundamun, there was a kid named Jerry. Jerry’s friend, Gerald, convinced Jerry to try skateboarding. Jerry tried to control the board, but he kept on falling down. Gerald told him to remember the land’s rule; that you have to keep trying, even if you think you can’t do it, but Jerry was so angry that he didn’t care.
“I give up!” He shouted, “This is just luck or something!”
Later, Jerry was playing video games with a new player and watched him play. The new player didn’t know what to do and lost many times, but they kept on trying. Jerry noticed his rapid improvement and that he wasn’t losing that much anymore.
“Maybe I can do that too!” he thought.
The next day, with renewed energy, Jerry walked over to the skating park and tried to do a jump on his board. He fell and heard the laughter of others around him as he lay on the ground. But Jerry just stood back up and ignored the taunts. He knew that by the end of the day, his goal would be to not only do the trick, but to perfect it. Over the next couple of attempts, he fell multiple times, but actually stuck the landing once. Now it wasn’t laughter, it was cheer that he heard from the group watching him.
A couple minutes later, Gerald came to the park, not expecting to see Jerry at all, but as he walked over to a large group cheering on someone, he realized that it was Jerry who was flawlessly performing the trick that had taken him almost a month to learn. “OMG, Jerry, what are you doing here?” Gerald asked. “I was inspired by a kid in my video game who also struggled, but succeeded in the end,” said Jerry, “and I learned that even if you fall 100 times, you will always succeed once.”
