The third Monday of April has been a special day to Boston since 1894. It honors the battles of Lexington and Concord. Its official name is Patriots’ Day, but people in Boston call it Monday Marathon.
On Monday Marathon, the Boston Marathon occurs. It’s one of the oldest and most distinguished marathons in the world. On the same day, the Boston Red Sox plays a game at 11:00 a.m, the earliest game in the MLB. After the game, Red Sox fans could go and see the rest of the marathon, which finishes a mile from Fenway Park.
The marathon is loud, full of people cheering for their family members and friends who are running in the race. If it’s raining, the viewers hold umbrellas over their heads, if it’s hot, then they wear shorts and T-shirts. Whenever or not you come in first or last, there’s always people cheering on runners.

After another inning, an hour-long rain delay occurred, which was a sign for fans to leave the game. But this time, the fans didn’t leave and after the delay, the game continued. Red Sox reliever Kutter Crawford threw 6.1 scoreless innings and allowed one hit, and the Red Sox offense tried to have the same amount of success as Crawford but only got four runs. The Red Sox lost 5-4.

The bombing left the city shocked and messed up. The Red Sox gave them a lifeline. They put together a good season and got into the 2013 World Series Championships.

This year was one of the last-place years and the last player Xander Bogaerts from the 2013 Championships got signed off by the Padres. But this year, the Red Sox gave a little burst of hope when new signing Adam Duvall and homegrown superstar Rafael Devers scored 10 home runs.
Almost 35,000 people gathered to watch the game and many people were wearing Boston city connect shirts. The jerseys debuted and were a hit in 2021. The jerseys became a lucky charm for the Red Sox, as they scored 17-4 while wearing them. The jerseys are yellow and blue and have the number 13 on the back, which gives a nod to the year of 2013 when the bombing happened. The number forms a B, which represents Boston.
