Mass shootings

one after another,

from elementary schools,

to churches,

to movie theaters,

to supermarkets,

to hospitals,

to July 4th parades,

to everywhere.

No desk is safe

to study,

No church is safe

to pray,

No theater is safe

to have fun,

No supermarket is safe

to shop,

No parade is safe

to enjoy,

Nowhere to hide,

Nowhere to run to,

Nobody to lean on.

Beautiful lives,

one by one,

toddlers and seniors,

men and women,

black and white,

Asian and Latino,

Gay and straight,

stopped suddenly,

at the muzzle,

in the blood.

Day by day,

People become numb,

People become blind,

People become deaf.

Eventually,

People stop complaining,

People stop arguing,

People stop making changes.

Only

Politicians keeps talking and praying.

Nothing has changed.

Life moves on.

Peng! Peng! Peng!

Another life was cut short abruptly,

without attending the prom party,

without tasting the sweetness of love,

without saying goodbye to loved ones.
