The January 6th riot will forever be remembered. Many suffered injuries. An unfortunate few were found dead. Jay Johnston, a voice actor from the beloved comedy sitcom “Bob’s Burgers,” has been put behind bars because of this very incident.

January 6th had set out to be any ordinary Wednesday. However, things took a dramatic turn when former President Donald Trump’s supporters stormed Congress in hopes of thwarting the certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential elections.

Mr. Johnston was identified with the help of social media users and amateur sleuths.

On March 4th, 2021, the F.B.I. made an official statement on Twitter, asking for assistance on the ongoing case with Mr. Johnston. Users in the replies responded with pictures of Mr. Johnston, whom they suspected to be the man in the pictures.

Mr. Johnston also worked on a podcast called ‘Hermantown’. Some of his colleagues who worked alongside him had recognized him as well.

He was charged with many criminal activities, which included civil disorder and entering a restricted building. Mr. Johnston also reportedly poured water over the eyes of rioters who had been sprayed.

Likewise, Mr. Johnston appears to have a different view on the riot than many others do. According to CNN, Mr. Johnston allegedly sent a text message to a former associate saying, “The news has presented it as an attack. It actually wasn’t.”

In addition to Mr. Johnston’s court sentences, he was banned from returning to his role of Jimmy Pesto Sr. on “Bob’s Burgers” as an extra punishment.

Over 1,040 people have been charged with crimes related to the riot on January 6th, and another 1,000 people are actually set to face them. Many more are still awaiting their sentence.

According to Time, the longest sentence anyone involved in the riot received was 17.5 years (Thomas Webster), while the “median prison sentence for the Jan. 6 rioters is 60 days.”

Other rioters include Richard Barnett and Stewart Rhodes. Photos suggest that Mr. Barnett had put his boot on Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s desk during the riot, while Mr. Rhodes was charged with seditious conspiracy.
