Shakespeare’s Mystery House Has Been Found

Recently, experts have discovered William Shakespeare’s “missing” London house.

William Shakespeare is a famous British writer. He was born in 1564. Although he lived in a long time ago, he is still the country’s most notable playwright. During Shakespeare’s lifetime, he wrote a lot poems, comedies, tragedies, and even historical plays. For instance, he wrote two famous tragedies: ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and ‘Macbeth’.

According to BBC, in Shakespeare’s later years, he owned a property in Blackfriars – a part of central London located on the north bank of the River Thames, near St. Paul’s Cathedral.
However, the accurate location had remained a mystery – until now.

According to BBC, professor Lucy Munro from King’s College London has found many documents about Shakespeare’s Blackfriars house, including the house floor plan. This plan has clearly drawn the L-shaped structure of the house and even the house’s dimensions. By comparison to other documents about the house, Lucy Munro has found Shakespeare’s granddaughter Elizabeth Bernard’s House Sale Record. So they could finally verify that it’s Shakespeare’s property. Also, Shakespeare’s house was near the St.Andrew’s Mountain, so it was very convenient to go to the theatre.

This amazing discovery has given us some new information and a wider view about Shakespeare’s lifetime and Shakespeare’s living conditions. In the future, I hope we can learn from Lucy Munro’s spirit of daring to explore famous people’s lifetimes so we can find some interesting facts about them and enrich our knowledge.
