The sixth overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft, Josh Giddey, and the second overall pick of the

2022 NBA draft, Chet Holmgren, joined together to play for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the

NBA Summer League.

Holmgren is a very versatile player. As a seven feet tall man, he brought the ball up and initiated the offense many times during his first game in Las Vegas. Making the right read, being aggressive, dribbling with confidence, Chet Holmgren finished with 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks on that Saturday.

“I mean, he does everything on both sides of the floor. He can stretch the floor and can play in

the mid-range,” Giddey said. “On the defensive end, he can protect the rim very well. So I know he’s got my back on that end, great guy to play with.”

Josh Giddey is also a very creative and aggressive player. “I spent a lot of time in the weight

room this summer so I’ve been getting ready for taking more contact going into the paint,”

Giddey said after a 14 points and 8 assists game.

There’s still a lot of development left for both great new players, like Chet Holmgren may need to add more muscle to deal with the physicality of the NBA. However, the Thunder are not going to be good this season. They are going to be great.
