US & Iran Have Different Ideas Over Peace Deal
Recently, the US and Iran have been negotiating a peace deal to end the ongoing war. However, both sides have different ideas on how it might work, and tension remains high.
A ceasefire was reached nearly two months ago on April 8, almost 6 weeks after the US and Israel attacked Iran. Unfortunately, attempts at peace talks have encountered many problems, and US President Trump has made threats to start bombing Iran again.
Iran has a strength in the fact that it has closed the Strait of Hormuz. According to undefined about the strait, “Roughly 20% of the world’s oil and gas pass through this important waterway.” The closure, which has stayed since the ceasefire, has skyrocketed gas and fuel prices and created challenges worldwide for countries that need to import oil and gas from the strait.
The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has added pressure to the peace deal talks. The two countries do not seem to be on the same page: Trump said the deal would mean the Strait of Hormuz opens, whereas Iran has not confirmed the same, as it does not seem eager to free the undefined “Some sources suggest that Iran still aims to keep tight control over the strait,” undefined states. A probable inference, as the strait remains Iran’s strongest bargaining tool: countries are desperate for Hormuz to be opened.
But the Strait of Hormuz is only the first part of the peace deal, along with ending fighting. Part two has become a big challenge, as the US and Iran are having a hard time reaching an agreement about Iran’s nuclear program. It is about controlling Iran’s nuclear weapons and power development. NFK Editors wrote of undefined, articulating, “That’s when details of how Iran’s nuclear program will be controlled are expected to be worked out.”
Other obstacles confronting the peace deal include questions about how the Strait of Hormuz will be controlled, what will happen to Iran’s nuclear resources, and how other countries in the region and around the world will react to the deal.
The peace deal remains an unsettled topic between the US and Iran. Each country has their own firm demands, so the peace deal rests on risky waters. If the peace deal is made successfully and to the satisfaction of both sides, the war will end. If the deal does not work out, the current problems will become even more dangerous than before.
