Trump and Iran's Supreme Leader's Deal
The US and Iran are working on a peace agreement to fully end the US and Israel war with Iran. Many details and problems still need to be worked out, and neither Donald Trump nor Iran’s supreme leader have approved the memorandum of understanding.
So far, the US and Iran have only come to a ceasefire, not a total end to the war. During the war, Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz. This caused oil prices to increase by a large amount because 20% of the world’s oil and gas, as reported by News for Kids, is shipped from the Strait of Hormuz, causing Trump to come to a deal.
The deal has two parts. Part one is ending the war. Trump also claims that it includes opening the Strait of Hormuz. However, Iran has not confirmed about the Strait of Hormuz yet. Part two is about Iran’s nuclear program. Many countries are suspicious of Iran’s nuclear program. Iran claims only to use its program for energy, but many countries suspect that Iran is building a dangerous nuclear weapon due to the amount of uranium that they have. The US wants to monitor Iran’s nuclear program. It will take over 30 to 60 days. The US will also have to agree to not attack or bomb Iran.
This deal has many gaps and problems that need to be worked out. Many details still aren’t clear and there are still many questions about this deal. For example, News for kids posits, “How will the Strait of Hormuz be controlled?” or “What will happen to Iran’s uranium?” The US and Iran continue to work on this deal.
