She has been with me for most of my life,

A faithful friend with a tale to tell

Her bounds and tail wags lights the world

The puppy eyes begging for treats

Asking for love

and tummy rubs

Through the years, by my side,

Her love and loyalty never denied.

Illuminating a world once untouched by love.

Until she suddenly had a lump on her belly

Out of place, and growing fast

We took her to the vet,

Who announced that it was a tumor

Or even worse- cancer

Weeping on my bed, I ask my dad

When is the surgery?

Thursday, he said

I’m waiting for the day

The day when we find out what it is-

Cancer, tumor,

on my beloved dog
