The Flying Potato
The flying potato is a potato that is able to fly. He has a yellowish skin with little bumps and a fluttering red cape. Flying potato is a potato who is friendly he likes to talk and help people. Today he is going to help 3 countries, and each one of them is suffering from serious pollution.
The three place flying potato is going to help are Bangladesh, Indonesia and Agbogbloshie in Ghana.
Bangladesh which is really polluted and usually has a PM2.5 air quality which happens because of the sprawling city. It is mainly because of construction dust and vehicle emissions.
Indonesia is known for large numbers of single use plastic going straight into the ocean with no recycling along with dangerous chemicals.
Agbogbloshie is a place known for removing metals from scraps. They do it by taking it apart, breaking and dismantling electric device which releases toxic, heavy metals.
The flying potato then took flight into the air towards its first destination. Flying potato flies to Bangladesh first. He starts to plant large numbers of trees and told the locals to switch to electric cars. The scenery was green and smelled of fresh plants. The locals weren’t familiar to this but they did it, knowing it would help them be healthy and help the planet. Then he went to Indonesia and told the locals, “You need to manage your chemical waste by breaking them and then releasing them into the rivers.” The locals followed the instructions and the water changed from black to transparent.
Finally, he flew through the air to the place with the most land pollution: Agbogbloshie. He started to recycle computer and e-waste properly. As flying potato tried to melt the old metal, a strong odor started to drift from the place. Later, the new sheets of metal were taken to factories to make new things. Then he told the locals to stop burning e-waste.
Breaking down chemicals before releasing them, setting limits to construction dust and using less single use plastic is the key to environment protection.
