I woke up from my bed realizing that it was the last day of summer break. I was devastated that I still hadn’t gotten a letter from any of the colleges that I applied to.

But when I went outside to get the mail, I found a letter addressed to me. My heart pounded. Was this the letter? Would I get accepted? My hands fumbled as I opened the clean white letter. But instead of finding an acceptance letter, I found an invitation. Thinking that this was for my dad instead of me, I put it on his desk. But instead, I found that it was written from a college.

When I took a closer look at it, it was actually a letter to my dream college! My heart was racing as I packed my stuff. It was finally time to choose my power, just like my parents had. Perhaps I should explain. My parents were one of the few people on Earth to have powers. Once I was born, I hoped to be just like them so that I could solve world problems. I could choose any type of power, maybe even 2, depending on my skills.

Once I told my parents, they were very happy and told me to get packing right away. I was excited. I could finally save people’s lives!

The next day when we were driving there, I realized that there might be other people that didn’t have powers. Because after all, it was very famous and hard to get into; it was Stanford, after all. Once we got there, I tried to look for my friends, but to no luck. I wondered how we could get to our power class.

To be continued…
