Sometimes I wish that I could jump off a 10-story building, shake off the landing, and carry on with my life. As exciting as that may be, that just isn’t how the human body works. Humans are fragile creatures, and you couldn’t possibly change my mind that God made us out of leftover dust.

Skunks, for example, were gifted with the power to blast a powerful stench from their behind that could make the fiercest creature collapse. Birds even obtained the ability to soar into the air and flap their wings freely from predators.

When it came to humans, God plopped us on the earth and wished us good luck. Though we had centuries of history involving wars and breakthrough inventions, we still can’t shoot a stinky scent from our buttocks or fly.

However, superheroes are exceptions. Through hours of brainstorming in a small room with crumpled white papers scattered across the carpet floor, masterpieces like Batman and Ironman were born.

Suits out of nanotech and rocket pulsors were made from human imagination; could they become reality in the future?

I’ve always wanted to be first in line when scientists were ready to inject mystery serums into the human body. I wanted to slowly open my eyes as the door from the metal capsule opened, and the fog dispersed.

No one could mess with me because I was no longer human. I could leap as high as the empire state building and run faster than the speed of light. What I was really looking forward to was the fact that everyone would respect me.

Even so, what’s the point of having incredible abilities if you don’t use them for good?

There are plenty of young vigilantes that turned evil including Super boy Prime and Terra. Instead of helping the world, they wreak havoc over cities. Someone could easily say because they have powers and are “above humans”, villains should be respected like superheroes. Sadly, that isn’t the way it works.

Superheroes are heroes because they have the right mindset; their urge to help people around them is incredibly strong.

Having a righteous mentality also shows you don’t have to have to be gifted with extraordinary talents or powers to have an impact on the world. Having the first sparks of wanting to create change and the tenacity to make your goal happen is all you need.
