Many people feel like they should be able to choose their teachers, but in my opinion, teachers should choose their students, because the students’ grades matter.
For example, in the fall, I’m going to fifth grade, and in August, I’ll be receiving my email from my new fifth grade teacher introducing herself. My teacher chose me based on my grades, as every teacher has their own level of difficulty.
I do understand why students would want to choose their own teachers; they might feel freer to express themselves or just more conformable overall.
However, I think grades and fit are the most important factor in choosing students and giving teachers the choice will allow students to excel at their own pace.
