The Russia-Ukraine war has led to Russia sending missiles and rockets toward Ukraine territory. One missile hit an apartment block in Chasiv Yar, a town in eastern Ukraine, killing at least 15 people, with more than 20 buried under rubble.

Chasiv Yar is near the city of Kramatorsk, in Donetsk region. Some people, fortunately, were brought out alive. The Russian missile hit one side of the building, leaving a vast mountain of concrete and wood with people buried inside.

Donetsk is the next goal of a Russian invasion of Ukraine territory. The region’s governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said the death toll was caused by a Russian Uragan Rocket hitting the apartment block.

“After such strikes, they will not be able to say they did not know something or did not understand something,” he said in a video address, adding that “punishment is inevitable for every Russian murderer.”

To release the victims from the rubble, rescuers used cranes to pick the people up and send them to the nearest hospital. The people who did survive came to pick up personal belongings on Sunday.

“We ran to the basement; there were three hits, the first somewhere in the kitchen,” one survivor called Lyudmila told Reuters news agency. “The second, I do not even remember, there was a flash; we ran towards the second entrance and straight into the basement. We sat there all night until this morning.”

The missile hitting Chasiv Yar is one of the highest in Donetsk. Still, events like this will become more common as Russia continues pushing into the Ukraine territory, nearing the city of Kramatorsk.
