Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief is a Mystifying Adventure of Magic and Monsters
Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief is a thrilling book about magic, gods, fantasy, and monsters. This book is written by Rick Riordan, a best-selling author. It was released in 2005 as the first book of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, which includes seven books and bonus materials. I really liked this book since it was part mystery, but it was also linked to the past. I also like books where the hero has to complete quests and fight off monsters, and this book has exactly that.
The book starts in a school field trip setting where the characters are introduced. of those kids who is branded a troublemaker by teachers.
He explains that his past experiences with field trips were not so good. For example, the previous year he had an accident with a revolutionary war cannon, blowing up his school bus. The year before that, he took a field trip to an aquarium to see it behind-the-scenes, and he hit the wrong lever on the catwalk, so his class took an “unplanned swim”.
His favorite teacher is Mr. Brunner, who has “an awesome collection of Roman armor and weapons”, to quote from the book. His least favorite teacher is Mrs. Dodds, who is She loves Percy and Grover’s bully, Nancy Bobofit, who is described as “the freckly, redheaded kleptomaniac girl”.
I like the book since it has lots of action. For example, when it is revealed that Mrs. Dodds is secretly a Fury torturer working for Hades, Percy is tossed a pen from Mr. Brunner, and when it hits his hand, it transforms into a sword. Then, Mrs. Dodds reveals her true form, and Percy and the Fury have a big fight. This is just one scene that confirms that this story is filled with action.
a prophet who delivers the Greek god Apollo’s prophecies, about his quest. He did not know parts of the prophecy until they have passed, so I think this prophecy was very well written not to spoil any part of the book. You can see how this book is based around Greek mythology, and that is another reason why I like it.
Overall, I give this book a 10/10 rating for the expert plot line and planning, and the anticipation the book creates. This causes the reader to keep reading, and readers are not disappointed by that. I would highly recommend this book to any young person who likes fantasy or hero’s journey novels.
