What could be done with rubbish like an old oil ring? Well, a team in Weston-Super-More came up with a smart idea to use one from the Nort Sea as an artwork.

The creation was named the See Monster and it will be transported to the town’s seaside on a flatbed barge which is as large as a football pitch. According to CBBCNewsround, the team plans to make the invention 35m tall, which is about 15m taller that the Angel of the North.

The workers behind this creation said they made this to help people start talking about sustainability.

“The idea of bringing this back and showing people how this can be of benefit and the lessons that could be learned is fantastic,” said Mark Canniford, who is part of a North Somerset Council.

The workers said the See Monster will have four levels with a waterfall, “with a 6,000-piece installation of the monster’s shimmering scales, and an onboard green oasis and a seated amphitheater and broadcast studio!”

This installation features 10 different projects that relate on science, technology, engineering, and math, which will take quite a while to build.

“These giants are all over the world and no one has ever tried to do this before…. It’s like a rehabilitation. It’s spent its life taking from the earth and now it’s time for it to give back,” Patrick O’Mahony, a newsubstance founder said.
