It was a hot and sunny summer day. I was taking a short walk with my sister and her friend. We
were looking for birds and pretty plants. We saw cardinals, blue jays, robins, and finches. We also saw tulips, roses, peonies, dandelions, and daisies.
We walked for a few more minutes and then something caught our eyes. We saw a cactus! We all ran over to look at it. It was small and green with brown spots. I had never seen a cactus before and I knew that there were spikes, but I didn’t see any spikes on this cactus, so I decided to touch it.
I bent down to touch it and I got spikes all over my thumb and index finger. I was so surprised I went to my sister and said, “There are spikes!” The spikes didn’t hurt because they were small and thin, but I could feel them on me. I managed to get most of them off, but a few spikes were stuck. When I went back home, I used tweezers to get them out. I was more cautious around cactuses after than experience.
