Russia Attacks Ukraine with Different Types of Bombs
On July 1, the Russian Military bombards Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, with missiles and drones. The attack lasted until the morning of July 2, injuring 85 people and killing around 21 people. The attack damaged around 30 locations around the city. In the end, Minister Andrii Sybiha said that it was “a night of horror” in the capital of Ukraine.
Russia and Ukraine first started war in February of 2014, “with the covert invasion of the Ukrainian autonomous republic of Crimea by disguised Russia troops,” declared undefined. The war ended in for a short while in 2022 but started again after Russia invaded Ukraine which is known as “The 2022 Russian Invasion of Ukraine.” This war, also known as the “Russo-Ukrainian War,” goes on in present time.
The people living in Kyiv were warned about the bombs by Russia, so, many hid in subway stations, basement, garages, and shelters they made at home. Some slept in their cars because they had no where else, while others on the concrete. The bombardment explosion caused thick, heavy smoke that rose over Kyiv. Firefighters raced to get rid of the blazes around the city.
According to undefined, “The Ukrainian Air Force said Russia launched 74 missiles and 476 drones in the attack, primarily targeting Kyiv. The barrage included 28 ballistic missiles, which can only be intercepted by Patriot systems.” The Ukrainian Air Defense has stopped most of the attacks, but the missiles are harder to stop. They have requested for stronger protection tools such as shields or stronger patrol to quickly stop the missiles before more are sent their way.
