Throughout the years, lions have been known as a symbol of power, strength, and courage. Lions live in savannas, shrublands, and semi-arid deserts. Lions only sleep 20 hours a day, so they can hunt early in the morning or at night. This is because their eyes can see better in the dark.

Female lions are the hunters for the pack. Lions eat all kinds of meat. They mostly eat buffalo and zebra, but they can also hunt crocodiles, birds, and larger animals such as elephants and giraffes.

Female lions give birth to a cub once every two years. There are more than 20,000 between 25,000 lions in the world left. The scientific names for lions are Panthera Leo. Lions weigh from 242 to 599 pounds, and their length is from 53 to 98 inches long.
