“You wanna buy this? Go get a summer internship at PSA, girl you’re fourteen.” That

was my mom’s reaction when I asked her if she could buy me a Fujifilm Instax Mini. Without a

choice, I started my journey to “get a job”.

Although I wrote three emails to the timekeeper manager at PSA, he didn’t respond to

any of them. In the end, the front desk helped me reach out to him. He sent me an email with a forty minutes long video about training and how to sign up for work times. Staring at the film, I learned nothing. I wouldn’t just let myself give up my Fujifilm Instax Mini like this, so I called

my friend who was currently working as a part-time timekeeper at Plano Sports Association.

I invited her to my house and prepared a better explanation for her. However, when

she stepped into my house, we didn’t talk about the internship at all. We started playing video

games and pranking friends online. As half of our time passed, we remembered we were

supposed to figure my timekeeper thing out.

She started to go over the rules, “You have to be there 10 minutes before the game. Why

am I saying this? Because you are always late when we are playing together.” I laughed. Then,

she showed me how to work the website. “So basically, you sign in and you put your available

time slot here. The manager will assign you your games later on,” she said. At the end, she

showed me how to use the timekeeping machine that I had some experience with from when I was a referee for fun.

Time always passes by quickly when you’re happy. I finished my learning, and I’m ready

to go be a terrific timekeeper!
