When you reach out to another,

you’re opening your palm.

Opportunities spring

from that palm,

jumping everywhere,

excited to be caught.

But when the offered hand

gets rejected,

and even slapped away at times,

those opportunities

are slapped to the ground as well.

Only when that hand

reaches out, yet again,

perseveres, courageous, never giving up,

do those opportunities,

and sometimes even new ones,

open back up once more.
