Playing on the playground

With all my little friends

Then going on a carousel

Going round and round

Reuniting with old friends

And making some new

Shopping here, shopping there

Always having fun

But then grades get important

Studying becomes a priority

Although some friends have been lost

It is only a small price to pay

Opening the letter, with fright and excitement

Eyes wander to the top of the page

Right there in big letters is one word

“Congratulations”

It is time to move out

To be on my own

To college I go

To be independent
