The Storm’s Performance
Gray, ashen clouds,
Cover the sullen sky,
The world that it shrouds,
Casts happiness awry.
But then we hear the rumble,
Of tempestuous thunder,
The earth starts to crumble,
And then we see a wonder.
Gallant, bright lightning!
Oh, how it dares to perform!
It strikes to start igniting
The performance of the storm.
Thunderstorm and Sun
The blue jay flutters
Pelted with thunderstorm rain
But now the sun’s out
Summer Showers
It starts with a drop
Then another
And another
People feel it on their heads
But they keep moving
Striding
Jogging
Going about
The drops keep plopping, too
And they form a crescendo
Of damp rain
You hear it on the roof
Clicking and clacking
Sliding raindrops are mesmerizing
They form a fog
It rains harder and harder
Umbrellas line the sidewalks
Still moving
Striding
Jogging
Then it stops
Suddenly as it started
There is no decrescendo now
The sun peeks out shyly
Then embraces the earth
Alas, you have forgotten your sunscreen
