An actor who appeared on “Bob’s Burgers,” Jay Johnston, was arrested recently on June 7th, in California. Footage from the January 6th, 2021 insurrection caught Johnston attacking officers and helping other rioters.

Johnston faces multiple charges, including civil disorder. He was said to have helped other rioters who got sprayed with tear gas by pouring water into their eyes. At around 3:05 PM, security camera footage captured Johnston passing around stolen police shields to block the police.

According to the FBI, United Airlines records show Johnston booked a round-trip flight from Los Angeles to Washington DC, departing on January 4th, and returning just a day after the riot. He was amongst the thousands who stormed the Capitol.

When the FBI asked for tips on Twitter, colleagues recognized Johnston. Three associates also recognized him from photos of that day, one of them providing the FBI with a text message Johnston wrote.

“The news presented it as an attack. It actually wasn’t. Though it kind of turned into that. It was a mess. Got maced and tear gassed”, Johnston wrote, admitting to being part of the riot.

Jay Johnston was the voice of Jimmy Pesto Senior in “Bob’s Burgers”. Johnston was since reportedly banned from voicing his character.

There have already been over 1,040 people charged with the riot on the Capitol Building, and there are still hundreds of more arrests in the works.
