Formed on July 27th, the category five super typhoon Dolphin swept through parts of Asia, leaving hundreds of people evacuated. This storm wrecked through the Philippines and Japan’s Okinawa island before downgrading into a tropical storm and blowing into China. This typhoon lasted fourteen days and 18 hours and zoomed through 4,411 miles. The hurricane itself was a giant 1,056 miles in diameter.
Typhoon Dolphin formed far east near the international date line and headed to the Philippines. This storm did not touch the ground but instead brought heavy rain, wind and waist deep flooding. This led to six deaths.
Then Dolphin advanced near Okinawa island in Japan, making landfall and bringing wind blowing near one hundred-fifteen miles an hour. The storm also brought a power outage to 50,000 buildings. Six people were injured by the weather.
Billions of dollars are now needed to fix the destruction of this hurricane. This hurricane was caused by high ocean heat, and human triggered climate change. To prevent another natural disaster like this this, scientists say that we have to reduce greenhouse gases and climate change.
