Lil Nas X, a famous grammy-winning singer, is calling out BET for their lack of inclusivity.

In the past years, Lil Nas X has been nominated for two BET awards and also has performed twice at the award show, but this year he received zero BET nominations.

On Twitter he wrote, “thank you bet awards. an outstanding zero nominations again. black excellence.” He also released a song called “Late to da party”, showing a BET award in the toilet and chanting “F*** BET!” several times in the song.

Lil Nas X also said that his queerness and being black contributed to the fact that he wasn’t nominated. He tweeted, “I just feel like black gay ppl have to fight to be seen in this world and even when we make it to the top mfs try to pretend we are invisible.”

BET responded by saying that they love Lil Nas X and that their voting academy is made up of a great number of professionals, which no people from BET are in. BET also released a statement saying, “We are committed to using all of our platforms to provide visibility and inclusion for all of the many intersections of the Black community.”

Many other artists are also withdrawing from other music awards, like Drake and Frank Ocean who withdrew from the Recording Academy and the Grammys, saying that the organizations were being non inclusive to black artists.
