Today’s my 11th birthday. It’s also August 1st, exactly one month before September 1st, the day Hogwarts starts. I am convinced that I WILL receive my Hogwarts letter any day now, which is why I have been sitting in a chair, staring at the window for the past hour, waiting for an owl to soar through the sky at any point. It’s also 7 am in the morning. I woke up at 6 am to stare at the window. I’m so productive.
My older sister Audrey knocked on my door and entered.
“Hey, Amelia wake up” she blinked in mild confusion as she saw I was already up and sitting in a chair. I grinned at her. She opened her mouth to say something but thought better of it. “I’m not even going to ask. Happy Birthday,” she said and left.
“Wait!” I shouted after her, realizing something. “Did you get your Hogwarts Letter yet?” I asked.
She smiled ruefully and said, “Yes” I frowned and asked, “What about Rodolphus?” referring to our brother.
She grinned. “Yes! And can you believe it? They made him Prefect!”
“Well, Congrats to him,” I said.
Audrey gave me a half smile, and left. I probably didn’t receive my letter because I just turned 11. I was sure I would receive it anytime today. I thought about my schedule.
6:00 am: Wake Up
6:00 am – 7:30 am: Wait for my letter
7:30 am – 8:00 am: Breakfast
8:00 am – 12:00 pm: Wait Some More
12:00 pm – 12:30 pm: Lunch
12:30 pm – 3:00 pm: Wait Some More
3:00 pm – 3:30 pm: Quidditch

5:30 pm – 6:30 pm: Dinner
6:30 pm – 7:00 pm: Cake!!!!
7:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Family Time
I know. So productive. Anyways, my name is Amelia Lestrange. I’m pureblood, part of the Sacred 28. I want to say I’m not prejudiced against muggles and mudbloods, but…. Don’t blame me. I was raised to believe they’re horrible people. Ok. back to staring at a window.

Nothing came. Yet. I mustn’t get myhopes down, because I KNOW we will receive our letters. My family’s blood is purer than half the wizarding families put together! Ugh, I bet that hag Dumbledore is purposely making me panic!

“Hi, Mum,” I say as I pour myself a bowl of cereal, sitting down, “Did any owls come by yet?”
My mother smiled at me and shook her head. “No, but I’m sure your letter will come,”
We both looked up as there was a slight rapping at the window. It was an owl! I quickly ran over to the window and let the owl in. I fed the owl a treat, and it flew off. Looking at the letter, my heart flushed with joy as I saw the Hogwarts seal on it. It was my letter.
