There’s been a massive typhoon in Asia. According to Nomad Lawyer, it’s affecting Japan, China, South Korea, and Vietnam. There has been a lot of flooding, a lot of infrastructure damage to many things, mass evacuations, and a few injuries. The typhoon is also affecting tourism;, as the typhoon airlines are canceling many flights and transit authorities are closing ferries in the countries that are being affected by the storm.
According to The Guardian, the typhoon caused power outages in over 50,000 buildings in Japan. In China, the storm also canceled over 1300 flights from and to Shanghai where over 300 millimeters of rain fell. The typhoon also temporarily shut down some public transportation systems. In Hong Kong, the typhoon contributed to Hong Kong’s drove the temperature up to a record high, 36.9 degrees Celsius. That’s over 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Even inland parts of China are at risk of flooding and landslides. Almost everywhere in China was impacted by typhoon Dolphin; more than a million people had to evacuate their homes in China as a whole.
According to The Guardian, typhoon Dolphin was the strongest typhoon to hit China in 2026. According to Am Best, the storm caused about 96.3 million dollars in property damage. You could buy over 80 medium houses, and at least 150 cars with that much money.
According to The Global Statistics, the typhoon was at its strongest on July 30th, when it was a category five super typhoon. It has weakened since then, and it probably won’t pose a threat anymore. It was still a crazy storm, though. Typhoon Dolphin is proof that people are not completely safe from large storms.
