In South India, a heatwave shut down schools. [schools were shut down by a heatwave going around the south of India.] The heatwave has been happening since April. The schools shut down because it is too hot to study in classrooms, libraries, and playgrounds. It is also too hot to go outside and play on the playground and on the metal on the playgrounds. So, children have to stay home.

In April, there were bells to remind kids to drink water every 45 to 60 minutes. And the government in India has a cooling zone that has fans and water in public areas. In hospitals, nurses and doctor have extra supplies like ice packs to cool people down.
