The Cloud

“What happened to you today?” my friend Holly asked.
“Well, it’s a long story,” I replied.
“It started when I woke up and crawled out of bed. I could tell today was going to be a tiring day. It was summer vacation, but I still couldn’t sleep in. I had a day of “fun” activities ahead of me. So after getting ready for the day, I packed my bag, and my mom gave me a ride to math class.
“During math class, I noticed a shadow over me. I just assumed it was the math teacher peering over my shoulder, so I ignored it, but the shadow didn’t go away. I just assumed that my eyes were playing tricks on me. It made sense because I forgot to wear my night lenses yesterday.
“My mom picked me up at 11:45 am, and then we ate lunch. We ate Thai food, which I didn’t really like. I also tripped over a curb and skinned my knee. The shadow darkened while my mom scolded me for not looking where I was going. After forcing down every last bite of my meal, my mom took-”
Holly interrupted, “I don’t care about what classes you took! How did you end up wet?”
I sighed and explained, “Do you remember the shadow I told you about? Well, that wasn’t what I thought it was. It turned out to be a cloud, following me.”
“How do you know?” Holly asked.
“If you stopped interrupting, you would know already,” I replied.

I continued, “Well, during badminton, there was this really annoying girl with an ego the size of Jupiter. She annoyed me every time I missed the birdie. When I stood up for myself, she cried and told the badminton coach that I hit her really hard with my racket, even though I didn’t. I got in trouble when I denied it. That’s when I felt a drop of water fall. No, I wasn’t crying. It came from above my head. I looked up. I saw a fluffy, grey cloud right above me.”

“No kidding?” Holly asked.
“No kidding,” I assured.
“So, how did you get rid of the cloud?” she asked.
“Oh, that was easy, I thought of things that make me happy, like reading or sketching,” I answered. “But I’m still wet.”
We all laughed.
