Entrekin Smashes Records in 250-Mile Race
Rachel Entrekin recently beat the record time of an ultra marathon called Cocodona by two hours, and beat the winning men’s score this year by a hour. The Cocodona race is 250 miles long and takes place in Black Canyon City in Arizona. Entrekin started the race on May 4th at 5:00 AM and she crossed the finish line on May 6th.
Entrekin finished in 56 hours, 9 minutes, and 48 seconds. That was nearly eight hours faster than her time in 2025 when she competed in the same race. Entrekin’s mindset stayed tough throughout the 250 miles. “I think I can do this, so why not?”, she thought before entering the race. She never questioned if she was strong enough for the race, showing her confidence. The race had many obstacles including deserts, mountains, and forests. The hardest obstacle was a 7.35 mile (11.8 kilometer) mountain.
To be successful in the race, Entrekin had to eat and drink regularly. She pushed through and slept for only 19 minutes, on the ground. To fuel her body, she ate mashed potatoes because “You get tired of chewing.”,” says Entrekin.
Entrekin was not challenged enough. Soon, she is going to France to compete in a race that is 108 miles or 175 kilometers long. She is also going to compete in the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc race this August.
