**911 Service Restored in Louisiana and Mississippi**

Several parts of Louisiana and Mississippi had trouble reaching 911 on Thursday after AT&T fiber-optic cables were damaged, causing disruptions that lasted just over two hours.

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves says that the company was working to repair what he described as “multiple cuts.” The issue did not just affect Mississippi; it also affected Louisiana and Alabama. All three states witnessed interruptions to emergency call services, including. 911 and 112.
Also, according to Jay Vise from the Orleans Parish Communication District, the issue started around 1:30 p.m. after a fiber line was broken in Mississippi. Since these emergency systems are connected, the disruption affected Louisiana’s 911 network.
Scott Simmons, from the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, said, “There was no indication that the problem was intentional. AT&T was still investigating the exact cause.”
AT&T later confirmed that it had restored emergency services and reported that outside contractors had caused the damage, though the company did not clarify who was responsible.
