K-Pop Demon Hunters
On June 20th, the movie, K-Pop Demon Hunters, was released to the world on Netflix. It is an action-packed movie about a K-pop girl group, Huntrix, that uses their voices to slay demons. The girl group consists of Mira, Zoey, and Rumi. The demons are evil creatures that take the souls of Huntrix fans to power their master, Gwi Ma. A demon named Jinu decides that he has come up with a better way. He will create a fake boy band and collect the souls of their fans- on one condition. If the plan is successful, he will be free of Gwi Ma’s tauntings.
One significant strength of the movie was the songs. Songs like Golden, Soda Pop, and Free were highly mentioned on social media after the movie was released. In addition, after hearing them, they can get stuck in the audience’s head for days, or possibly even weeks. Another strength is reliability. In one of their first scenes, before going to their concert, Huntrix was sitting around gobbling up tons of junk food. This is relatable because, well, a lot of people sit around and consume junk food. To some people, eating tons of junk food is something that they do every day.
Some scenes that the audience wanted to see were cut, and s It’s a little disappointing when someone realizes a scene they wanted to see was cut from the final production.
Overall, I would recommend this movie. The catchy songs, smooth animation, and action are what makes this movie good.
