Iga Swiatek Slams down Amanda Anisimova to win her first Wimbledon title
In The All England Club, London, Iga Swiatek beat Amanda Anisimova with a jaw-dropping 6-0 in the Wimbledon women’s final on 2025 July 17.
This is Swiatek’s first Wimbledon title, and her sixth grand slam title, being the only active WTA Tour player to hold Grand Slam titles on all three surfaces. Swiatek is now 6-0 in the major finals and is second behind Venus Williams, who has seven majors, among active WTA players with the most majors.
During this match, Anisimova could not serve the ball into the other side like she had in the other six matches during the fortnight. Even her fearsome backhand wouldn’t raise her score by one. On the other side, Swiatek was returning everything and missed nothing.
Gaining her Wimbledon title was certainly an unpredictable moment after all the losses that had been piling up on Swiatek, especially after she “failed to defend her three clay-court titles” (the athletic). Her world rank has tumbled to No. 8.
Swiatek’s comeback was a result of embedding the controlled aggression that she and her coach Wim Fissette had wished to see in her matches. In a matter of weeks, she has managed to turn her downhill into uphill, strengthening her reputation in the sport of tennis.
