Favorite Musicians
Ludwig van Beethoven is my favorite musician because his music is still loved all around the world, even though he was born in Germany in 1770. He began writing music over 200 years ago and became very famous for his strong and emotional songs, like the “Moonlight Sonata” and the “Fifth Symphony.” What makes Beethoven even more amazing is that he continued writing music even after he went deaf. That demonstrates how talented and brave he was.
His music is full of feeling, as listeners and instrumental players can hear sadness, joy, anger, and hope, all without any words. I enjoy how his music can be soft and gentle one moment and loud and exciting the next. His songs all have a special history to them, according to how it was written or played. Many of his pieces were written out of love, pain, and a sense of helplessness. This was because he was slowly losing his sense of hearing, which was needed for a musician and composer like him. This caused him to damage and break the strings in his piano, as he was desperately hitting them to hear the sound. Even through this heartbreaking time, he managed to create dozens of beautiful pieces, such as his Ninth Symphony, including the world-famous hymn “Ode to Joy”, and Für Elise. His pieces are played in concerts, movies, and even in space, as NASA sent his music on a special record to show future aliens what Earth sounds like. Even though Beethoven didn’t win the kind of awards we have today, his music has endured for centuries and still inspires people. Unlike what many people think today, Beethoven’s music is not boring; it’s full of life and feeling.
