WIMBLEDON 2025 WINNERS ANNOUNCED
In the finals of Wimbledon 2025, tennis players faced their opponents in the extreme heat of the third heatwave in the UK that year.
Wimbledon is a prestigious tennis tournament that brings the top tennis players from around the world.
Poland’s Iga Swiatek took the Ladies’ Singles Title in a game with the United States of America’s Amanda Anisimova. It was Iga Swiatek’s first Wimbledon Ladies’ Singles. Swiatek dominated the game with a 6-0, 6-0 match in just under fifty-seven minutes. Swiatek was the first woman to win their Wimbledon Final without dropping a single game since 1911’s Dorothea Lambert Chambers. Swiatek didn’t expect this victory. “It seems super surreal,” said 24-year-old Swiatek. “Honestly, I didn’t even dream of winning Wimbledon because it was way too far. I feel like I’m an experienced player, having won other Slams, but I didn’t expect this.”
The Gentlemen’s Singles title was taken by world number one Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner from Spain’s previous champion Carlos Alcaraz. Sinner and Alcaraz are currently two of the world’s best tennis players.
Off the court, Sinner and Alcaraz have a strong bond. After winning the men’s title, Sinner thanked Alcaraz, saying: “It is so difficult to play you, but we have a great relationship off the court.”
World number one wheelchair tennis player Tokito Oda took the Wheelchair Singles Title from the UK’s previous champion, Alfie Hewett. Nineteen-year-old Oda lost the first set but claimed victory by winning the following two sets.
There were also a number of doubles played in the Wimbledon. The Gentlemen’s Doubles was won by the UK’s Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool, being the first all-British duo to win at Wimbledon in 89 years. The winners of the Ladies’ Doubles title were Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova and Belgium’s Elise Mertens. The Mixed Doubles title was won by the Netherlands’ Sem Verbeek and the Czech Republic’s Katerina Sin. The Wheelchair Doubles was won by Martin de la Puente and Ruben Spaargare.
The 2026 Wimbledon tournament is scheduled to start on June 29, 2026.
