Barbie, the Greatest Toy Ever

Barbies are my favorite toy and the best ones! They were created by American Ruth Handler. They’re short for Barbara Millicent Roberts. You can dress them up, have dollhouses for them, and imagine they are real people! These toys have a lot more to them than you can see if you keep reading.

Barbies are world-famous and were first released in 1959. That year alone, 350,000 Barbie dolls were sold! People criticized Ruth Handler because the dolls looked like adults. They thought people wouldn’t want to buy it. Turns out that it was the exact opposite! There was even a movie about Barbie that was released on July 21st, 2023, and premiered in the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

You can dress Barbies up in clothes you sewed yourself, or if you have multiple Barbies, you can mix and match clothes for other Barbies. You can spend hours playing with and dressing Barbies. But if that sounds kind of boring, you should read the next part!

Another reason Barbies are the best is that you can imagine they are real and play imaginary games with them. Playing basketball, going to Disneyland, or even making the dolls act like the people in the movie. Barbies have a lot of range in the ways we can play with them, but also in the people they represent. For example, there are Barbies with diabetes, hearing aids, and Down syndrome. For people who feel different and are not included, these Barbies make them feel like they are part of the group, and celebrate their differences.

My favorite Barbie is the Gymnast Barbie because she can do cartwheels and has gold medals around her neck. Barbies are the best toy ever, and my favorite.
