A Plane Crashes on the Way to London
With experienced pilots, planes rarely crash. Somehow, they do sometimes crash. On June 6th, an Air India airplane left from Ahmedabad, an Indian city. The destination was the London Gatwick airport in the UK. Shortly after the flight took off, it crashed.
Many people were shocked when the Air India plane crashed, including leaders of India and the United Kingdom. “UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said the crash was ‘devastating’. ‘I am being kept updated as the situation develops, and my thoughts are with the passengers and their families at this deeply distressing time,’ he said,” the BBC reported. “The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, said the situation was ‘heartbreaking beyond words,‘” continued the BBC. Even King Charles and Queen Camilla were surprised.
This crash was big news since thousands of airplanes are always flying at the same time for different destinations. Airplanes almost never crash, because every time one does, we gain valuable information about what went wrong. For example, pilots learned to drop some fuel during their flight so they can fully control the weight of the airplane. The fuel evaporates before it hits the ground, so no one is hurt.
