Beginning 2021, players of “War Thunder” all over the world have been leaking classified documents related to the three tanks of British, French, and Chinese origin. This is unprecedented news because “No one has ever leaked classified documents related to national security in a public forum to win an argument – until last year, twice. And then again, this year.”

This news immediately caught many people’s attention. The sightings of these leaks were reported by the UK Defense Journal.

The first leaker uploaded the manual to the British Challenger 2 tank, because he wanted to get a “War Thunder” developer to improve the tanks in the game.

The second posted it because they wanted to prove their point of turret rotation speed to their debater, thereby posting the Leclerc S2 Manual.

The final person that posted classified information about China’s DTC10-125 Tank, was not identified.

Developers quickly appeared to fix the issue, deleting the files, anxious that the information would spread out too quickly.

However, other game developers were not worried.

“I didn’t see anything I’d jump up and down about,” said Steven Zaloga, a senior analyst at the Teal Group. He has been analyzing tanks for approximately 50 years and published dozens of volumes about such information regarding armored vehicles and military technology.

The creator of “War Thunder,” Anton Yudintsev, said that is company, Gaijin Entertainment, aspires to remove the attachments that have been sent and prevent this from happening in the future.

“We explain to the users again and again that it is pointless to give us any documents that we cannot and won’t use, but we probably can to more to explain this,” he said.

“Unfortunately, there is no way to complete prevent people from publishing something on the internet. We delete the posts and permanently ban those who break the rules, so our users know that they risk everything essentially for nothing.”
