“Where are you going? It’s midnight!” I asked beating my small wings after Terence.

“You’ll see.” He replied winking at me. I followed him, my turquoise hair flowing behind. When we arrived at the scene, all our friends jumped out and yelled,

“Surprise!”

“Oh my gosh Terence! How did you even pull this off!”

“Don’t worry about it.” I threw my arms around him in a bear hug.

“Thank you.” I whispered into his ear.

“Happy birthday, Adelina!” Feya said coming to me with a dress.

“Thanks!” I took the glittering dress to one of the tents and put it on. When I walked out everyone was watching me. The dress was made out of the shining moon dust, lighting up everything.

“Everyone, Small Wing has arrived.” Small Wing, that was my nickname because I was born with the smallest wings in fairy history. I didn’t mind because I was still the fastest and slyest. I walked over to Terence as music started to play.

“I don’t even know what to say, thank you.”

“No problem, I am your best friend after all. Why don’t we go dance?” As the party went on, something or someone roared making our camping spot shake. We all looked up to see an ogre. We scattered picking up what we could.

“Quick, to the enchanted forest!” Feya yelled, guiding everyone out. I grabbed Terence’s hand and flew as fast as I could into the enchanted forest, but little did I know this was the wrong side.

As we walked in, everything was dark unlike the forest we had seen before. It smelled of chocolate and candy sweets? The enchanted forest we knew smelled of flowers and honey. All faeries were warned not to go there because they would be too attracted to their surroundings. Now I saw why.

“Hi, who are you two?” I stopped in my tracks scanning my surroundings.

“Who’s talking?”

“It’s me the red mushroom.” I looked around and didn’t spot any mushrooms.

“Behind you.” The old voice said.

“Oh, hello Mr. Red Mushroom.” I looked up to see a mushroom that was 3 feet tall, and smelled of graceful flowers, the opposite of its poisonous real self.

“I’m Adelina, and this is my best friend, Terence.” Terence gave a bow and asked,

“Where are we?”

“In the enchanted forest of course.”

“But it doesn’t look or smell like the enchanted forest.”

“You must be talking about the other side.”

“Yes, yes! How do we get there?” I cut in.

“Well, you just walk to the light.”

“How do we-” Before I could finish, he stopped talking and fell asleep. “Great.” Terence took my hand again and looked into my ice blue eyes.

“We’ll figure it out.” I smiled at him and started walking right.

“Let’s fly, it’ll be faster.” I clutched Terence’s hand taking off. Everything was going smoothly, until spirits came and attacked us. The spirits were bright like the sun (probably because they were made from the sun) and fed on anger and hatred.

“Happy thoughts only!” Terence yelled holding onto my hand like it was the last piece of gold. Neither of us had a weapon, so all we could do was not look at them. This was it, how I died until, my dress was moonlight and moonlight is the opposite of sunlight! I picked up the fluffy part of my dress and shone it on their faces. A bright light flashed, and they dissolved leaving a bright path ahead of us. Terence looked at me with the biggest eyes in fairy history and said,

“That was amazing, now, let’s go and find the rest.” I nodded in agreement and said,

“Let’s go.”
