Sydney Mclaughlin, an astounding athlete who runs the 400-meter hurdles, broke the world record yet again last Friday in a time 50.68 seconds, winning her first world championship in the event.

The race was her fourth time breaking the world record in two years; her only true opponent recently been the clock, and yet Mclaughlin says there are definitely things to work on. “I still think that wasn’t a super clean race,” she says.

Femke Bol and Dalilah Muhammad finished in second and third place with times of 52.27 seconds and 53.13 seconds respectively. Both athletes were tough competition, but Mclaughlin was able to come out on top.

Mclaughlin’s coach, Bobby Kersee, still thinks she has room for improvement. She said they were considering the races in the future, but no matter what there were more races to enter and records to break.
