It was an early Sunday morning and Liam had just woken up to the sound of his alarm clock. It was a big day for him; he was going to get baptized at his local church. However, something was wrong. Liam was breathing hard as he had just woken up from a nightmare, but he assured himself everything was fine and slowly got up.
When he looked in the mirror, his hair was sticking out in different directions like he’d just been struck by lightning. Liam rubbed his eyes as he proceeded to brush his teeth. The house was unusually quiet, as usuallu his 7-year-old sister, Mia, was typically already arguing with his parents.
“Is anyone up?!” Liam hollered at the top of the staircase after changing into his church outfit. “Yeah,” said a tired voice from a kitchen. Liam could tell it was Mom by the tone. “Can you wake Mia up? We have to leave soon,” said Dad. “Bet,” Liam uttered, tiptoeing towards his sister’s room.
“Mia!” Liam exclaimed, “Get up! We’re about to leave!”
“Ok,” Mia muttered still snug in her blanket.
As they entered the church, many families had gathered and were praying in groups before their children were going to get baptized. Liam and his family sat in their usual spots as they waited for Liam’s name to be called. Name after name was called, and the finally, Liam heard his name.
“Liam Davis, please walk up towards the baptismal font,” said the priest.
As Liam slowly walked up, he felt a sudden, sharp pain in his chest. He flinched, but he knew he had to ignore it. Liam continued walking, and soon, his eyesight started to fade. Collapsing on to the floor, the people of the church erupted, not knowing what had happened. The priest rushed down and immediately put his hands over Liam and started praying.
All of sudden, Liam rose, face pale, pure white eyes. He was possessed.
