The Battle Creek Field of Flight Air Show runs through June 18 & 19, 2022 as the U.S. Navy Blue Angels return to perform at the Midsouth Airshow. This aviation event will feature military demonstrations, aerobatic performances, static display aircraft, and local emergency response helicopters.
Chris Darnel was driving in an event his Jet Truck at the Battle Creek Field of Flight Air Show and Balloon Festival when it was engulfed in flames while racing at speeds up to 300mph. The Shockwave Jet Truck was racing two planes when the incident occurred. He was killed in the explosion.
Chris celebrated his 40th birthday a month before the accident. Neal Darnell, Chris’s dad, said the accident was “a result of mechanical failure on the Jet Truck.”
“Chris loved the Air Show business,” he said. “He was ‘Living the Dream,’”
