Li Haotong is a Chinese golfer who recently won the BMW International Open. This was his first win in four years. Before that, he had considered quitting golf.
“I had no idea I could win this play-off. Luckily things happened for me again,” Haotong said. “I tried to hit a lot of good putts today, especially on the back nine – those three putts, including the last one.”
Before that, Li needed birdies at the 16th and 17th holes to take a one-shot lead over Thomas Pieters, whom he was playing against. However, his birdie at the 18th didn’t go in, while Pieters putt for birdie and forced a play-off.
Even though he started badly, Haotong holed a 50-foot putt in the play-off while Pieters missed his putt.
Li Haotong shows us that even if he missed the cut 14 times in 2021, and at one point dropped to 467th in the world, it’s important to keep a positive attitude and have fun.
