Intense Record Breaking Heatwave Sweeps the World

Extreme heat waves are currently affecting

Spain’s Basque Country reached a high temperature of 42 degrees Celsius or 107.6 Fahrenheit, according to the undefined. The Spanish Weather Agency also reported that the country’s daily average temperature was 28 degrees Celsius or 82.4 degrees Fahrenheit, the highest ever recorded for June. But now the heat wave is now moving further east to also impact areas like Poland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary.

In the United States, more than 30 states are experiencing temperatures between 90F and 100F. Because of high humidity, it can feel as hot as 115 degrees Fahrenheit in some areas. This is caused by a “heat dome,” which is a weather system that traps hot air over a region, according to the undefined. The western US is getting hit by an unusually strong heat dome that is most likely from global warming and it will heat up much of the United States this weekend, bringing the hottest temperatures so far this year to tens of millions from California to Canada (according to undefined). 

South Asia has been also been struggling with dangerous, life-threatening heat since April. In May, almost all of the world’s hottest cities were in India, with some places reaching 48 degrees Celcius or 118 degrees Fahrenheit. There have been at least 47 confirmed deaths in India and Pakistan, though experts worry the actual number could be higher (According to the ).
