Yesterday at 7:53 am Eastern time, at least 20 people died at a South African nightclub.
Police are uncertain what the cause of death was, as the bodies were laid across the table with no visible signs of injury. The people were reportedly attending a party to celebrate the end of winter school exams. “At this point, we cannot confirm the cause of death,” health department spokesperson Siyanda Manana said. “We will do autopsies soon to find the probable cause of death,” Manana added. The owner of the club, Siyakhangela Ndevu, told local broadcaster eNCA “when I got a call this morning it was to tell me that the tavern was too full and people were trying to force their way in” he said.
