The US Attacks Venezuela and Takes the President and His Wife.

President Donald Trump of the United States of America made an army invade Venezuela and take the president. During the attack, the army unrighteously killed around 80 people. Donald Trump’s government had been building up forces around Venezuela for months and has been pressuring the country. Donald Trump even encouraged the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, to step down prior to the attack.

However, it is very unusual for a country to invade another country and take its president. The attack was in the early morning. The US sent more than 150 bomber planes to bomb some areas of Venezuela. Then, some skilled soldiers came in on helicopters and took Nicolás Maduro and his wife. Donald Trump said that Nicolás Maduro has been shipping drugs to the US. He also said that this is one of the reasons he had to be taken. Nicolás Maduro and his wife were brought to the US and are in a jail in New York. The US Department of Justice is planning to put Nicolás Maduro on trial.

But, the action was also about oil. In a speech, Donald Trump said that giving the US access to Venezuela’s oil was a reason for the attack. Venezuela has lots of oil, but the country has rules that limit how oil can be sold. Even so, Venezuela had been secretly selling oil to places like Russia and China.

Venezuela’s vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, has been chosen to act as a president. However, she says she still thinks that Nicolás Maduro is Venezuela’s only president. Delcy Rodríguez described the US action as kidnapping.
