The unusual insect that is smart

What animals are smart? There are a lot of animals that are smart. However, there are some unusual animals that can be smart. Have you ever thought of an insect being smart? Well, there is a really unusual insect that surprised scientists by their intelligence. This insect I talk about is the bee.

Well, first of all, how did the bees surprise the scientist if they didn’t get tested on? That’s the first thing. The bees got tested on by a scientist. The scientist made a little challenge for the bees. The scientist used a box with honey inside it. The bees were at the bottom of the box but the honey was at the top. The box also had a foam ball. The bee had to solve of how to get the honey. At first the bees did not know that the ball could move. When the scientists found that out they tried to make the bees to know that the ball could move, so the scientists put holes on the bottom of the box. The bees found out that if they moved the ball of the hole the bee could get the honey. The ball was blocking the bee. The bees moved the hole slowly. Then it freely ate the honey.

73% of bees solved this little challenge. However, the only scientists still wasn’t convinced. They needed to make sure that the bee didn’t just get luck. The scientists wanted to know if the bee’s brain was actually trying.

They made a second challenge that was harder then the first one. The scientists hid the honey behind a wall. The bees still managed to find the honey. This proves that bees can be smart even though they are small and have tiny brains.
