The Second Bird

There was once a bird that was very lonely. He had no friends and was kind of sad that he was alone all the time. He had heard stories that his uncle was just like him, and that one day, his uncle went out to find friends and never returned. No one knew if he ever found friends.

This little bird wanted to go find friends too, but he was very scared as there were supposed to be many scary animals. Besides, he was still a kid. When his uncle went on the expedition, he was already an adult. Still, he decided to head out and go on an adventure. An adventure to find friends.

He went and hopped on the ground, searching for friends near the tree that he lived on.

But then, he saw a coyote!

The little chick was uneducated and he thought the coyote might be a friend. So, he said hi.

“Hi!” he said.

Unfortunately for the bird, the coyote was hungry. So, he tried to eat the bird.

The bird tried to fly away… but he was still a kid, so he couldn’t fly yet… you can guess what happened next.

Okay, for the bird, there was some good news and some bad news. The bad news was that he was swallowed whole and inside the coyote. The good news was that he was swallowed whole and alive inside the coyote. So, theoretically, he could escape.

But that was no easy task. For one, the inside of the coyote’s stomach reeked of dead squirrel. It was horrible, and the bird could barely stand it. But he knew he had to suffer to live.

The stomach acids were slowly rising. He was safe for now since he was hanging on a dead squirrel leg, but he was going to get consumed by the stomach acid soon. He realized that he needed to be brave, and that he needed to try to fly out of the coyote.

He built up the courage to try, and try he did.

He made the coyote gag and barf the bird out.

But now, the coyote was mad and began chasing the bird.

Just as the bird was about to die, he was saved by his uncle, who had indeed found friends,
